Get Out Of Your Career Rut!
Nobody starts out in life wanting to be bored by it. Nobody plans to hear the alarm ring at 6am and pull a face of ‘kill me now!’ And yet for a lot of people this becomes a reality.
The thing is it creeps up on you and you don’t always notice when it’s happening and suddenly…bam! You find yourself stuck in a rut, working to pay mortgage and other assorted bills and too fearful to pull yourself out of it.
One of the fears that keeps people stuck is the salary.
You like your apartment and your salary is what is helping you stay there, how can you possibly put that at risk? Or you have a family and they now have an expectation of a certain type of lifestyle. Your lifestyle is owned by whatever credit card company bought it for you and neither you or they want you to drop below that standard, so what do you do? Risk it all to pursue some crazy dream of independence and passive income rolling in?
The thing is whenever there is pain felt it is telling us something needs to change. Sure your lifestyle is fine(ish), but if it were great you would not be experiencing the nagging feeling. And frankly if you ignore it it’s just going to keep coming back and nagging at you. Life could be made unbearable for you if you do not get a chance to scratch that itch.
First thing to do?
Investigate!
This is CSI Mike, Mike James, Pete or CSI Jodie, Jen, Barbara, Michelle time!
You must investigate fully. Often people make broad assumptions without doing any real research into their actual, possible solutions. They often think that a job switch or a quest for independent earning will automatically mean earning less, but of course it might not. Even if it does, it might only be for a relatively short period and the other benefits may compensate.
The thing to do in this situation is to investigate thoroughly. Sure things may not go to plan. That’s life! Life is risk – with no guarantees! Even sticking like a limpet to a dull, soul destroying job is a risk these days! Once you have the facts staring at you from a piece of paper it is easier to weigh up whether the risks are worth a short upheaval. Investigate!
What questions should you be asking?
- Well, how much will I need to earn?
- How much do I want to earn?
- What am I going to have to change to make this happen?
- Do I need further education?
- How can I afford it?
- Which company would I ideally like to work for?
- Will I need a business plan?
- Do I need investment?
- What timeframe will this new venture take?
…Those kinds of questions.
Where can you get this assistance? How do you do the math? When do you start?
You are not alone. Always keep the family in the loop. They are going to have to make any necessary changes with you…OR

Coachie went to a few of these free seminars. It was fine as a starting point. But frankly, none of the people teaching had acquired the levels of success that I was seeking, so they could only inform me from an anecdotal and practical perspective, not from experience. That’s where Coachie comes in!
Not only did Coachie attend every kind of seminar from the good to the bad to the ugly, I have years of study and actual experience of running million dollar companies. Both my own and other people’s. I also was not shy in coming forward and communicating with some of the world’s biggest Do It Yourself entrepreneurs from Richard Branson to Clive Davis to Duncan Bannatyne to Sir Philip Green…
